Fire Protection/First Responders

Hornby Island Fire Rescue is located on Hornby Island, on the west coast of British Columbia. We are a volunteer department staffed with 22 members, led by Chief Giff LaRose.

We have a 4 bay firehall housing our 4 front line apparatus:

  • 2004 American Lefrance pumper with 1000 GPM pump and 1050 gallon storage.
  • 1996 Superior tanker with a 1500 gallon capacity
  • 2000 Crestline ambulance
  • 1982 King/Seagrave rescue truck containing our forestry, high angle rescue, and auto extrication gear.
